Lisburn
Lisburn is our closest catchment outside Belfast itself, and about one in six of our patients comes from the city or the surrounding villages — Hillsborough, Moira, Dromore, Glenavy.
Twenty minutes on the M1 outside peak times. Leave at Stockman’s Lane, follow the Lisburn Road towards the city, and turn off before the Malone Road. There is on-site parking for eight cars, which is the part worth knowing: everything else in this part of south Belfast is either permit-controlled or metered, and finding a space on the Lisburn Road at half past nine is not a pleasant start to an appointment.
The journey is genuinely twenty minutes at ten in the morning and closer to forty at half past eight, so we tend to offer Lisburn patients mid-morning slots for surgical appointments. If you are being sedated you will not be driving anyway, and whoever brings you can wait in reception or, more sensibly, go and come back.
For a single implant, four trips over about four months: consultation, surgery, a short review, then two appointments for the final crown. Two of those are ten minutes long, and for patients coming from Lisburn we combine them with something else wherever we can rather than asking for a separate journey.
For a full arch it is more front-loaded: the consultation, a planning appointment, the surgery day itself, then reviews at one week and one month before a gap of several months. The surgery day is a long one and you will need somebody to drive you home.
Two reasons, mostly.
The first is that Lisburn has good general dental practices and no dedicated implant clinic. Several Lisburn dentists refer patients here for the surgical part and do the rest themselves, which is an arrangement we prefer — we place the implant, they keep the patient. If your own dentist would rather handle your crown work, tell us at the consultation and we will plan it that way.
The second is the M1. Lisburn patients often looked at Belfast city centre practices first and found the parking, the one-way system and the cost of a multi-storey enough to put them off attending four times. A car park you can drive into is not a sophisticated advantage, but it is the one people mention.
Nothing about the prices changes by postcode: the published price list applies to everybody, a consultation is £95 including a CBCT scan, and finance is available from 0% APR over 12 to 60 months.
The one thing worth budgeting for from outside Belfast is time rather than money. Four to six visits across four months is the honest figure for most treatments, and it is better known in advance.
